Philippe Jabre is the chief information officer, chief executive officer and founder of Jabre Capital Partners, a company based in Geneva, Switzerland, that provides asset management services to institutional investors, family offices and high-net-worth individuals.

Mr Jabre founded Jabre Capital Partners in 2006, drawing on extensive experience gained throughout an extraordinarily successful career in finance. Thanks to his visionary leadership, Jabre Capital Partners went from strength to strength, with the company at one point managing multi-billion-dollar asset portfolios for a prestigious global clientele.

In addition to leading Jabre Capital Partners, Philippe Jabre is the founder of the Association Philippe Jabre. He also serves on the Board of Overseers of Columbia University and the Board of Trustees of the American University of Beirut, as well as supporting various art, cultural and philanthropic foundations and projects in the Middle East and Europe.

Education

Born in 1960 in Beit Chebab, Beirut, Philippe Jabre attended Notre Dame de Jamhour before enrolling at the American University of Beirut. His university studies were cut short after a year due to the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War. He relocated to Canada, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from Concordia University in Montreal. He subsequently earned a master’s degree with honours from Columbia Business School in New York, majoring in business administration. During his time studying at Columbia Business school, Philippe Jabre was an active member of the learning institution’s Investment Banking Club. He was invited to join the university’s Board of Overseers, in recognition of his significant professional achievements.

Professional Career

Philippe Jabre started his career working for BAII Asset Management, gaining a wealth of experience managing assets across various different markets. He then relocated to London, working for GLG Partners, an arm of Lehman Brothers International (Europe). Mr Jabre played a pivotal role working as a partner and portfolio manager, overseeing the organisation’s flagship investment fund. During this period, he forged strong relationships with institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds in the Middle East and Europe, gaining a strong reputation as a leading fund manager thanks to his investment expertise and uncanny ability to anticipate macroeconomic trends.

Association Philippe Jabre

Outside of his professional interests, Philippe Jabre dedicates a great deal of his time to philanthropy, having founded the Association Philippe Jabre in 2001. A non-profit organisation launched to address the needs of the underprivileged in Lebanese society, the Association Philippe Jabre works tirelessly to improve educational access, having awarded over 3,000 university scholarships to date. The organisation operates in the spirit of non-discrimination and equality, helping families across Lebanon access schooling and health care.

Almaza Brewery

Mr Jabre eventually returned to his home country, having made the strategic move to acquire a majority stake in Almaza from the Heineken Group in 2021. His involvement in revitalising this iconic Lebanese, family-owned brewery underscores his commitment to heritage, entrepreneurship and local economic development.
